Reflections and Feedback:

" I just had to say WONDERFUL JOB LAST NIGHT!  I don't think anyone in that room wasn't touched by the stories we heard, the projects we saw, and the community that we all formed together.  It's hard to see the big picture of the program when you just go to tutoring each week.  It was wonderful to see the big picture, and to know that this organization really is helping to make a difference it people's lives.

I just want to say you should all be proud of yourselves and what you do everyday.  I know being there last night made me emotional and I imagine many others felt the same.  It feels good to be a part of this networks and I look forward to growing in it next year!  And I will be taking time this summer to spend with Alex, and I'm excited about it!"

"EL,

Thanks for the note.  I've really enjoyed the program, and it means a lot to hear that my time there was appreciated.  But I think our contributions pale in comparison to the commitment that you bring.  I think that you're a great role model for the students and that you have found a way to successfully toe the line between being an authority and being a friend.  Its great to have a leader in there that the students can look up to and someone that they trust and listen to.  I'm going to definitely miss William and everyone else at Cabrini.

Keep in touch,"

The main reason why I am doing this work is because it is a good feeling when you have the chance to make an impact, not only in your program, but in the region that your program participates in... it's amazing!!!…”

"Cabrini Connections brought a lot of positive things out of Yahshua that I didn't see in him before. The program helped me understand who he is and what he enjoys."

“The gifts that were offered by the tutoring program to my peers and myself should be shared around the world. They have helped me personally throughout my journey. There are so many children that deserve a chance to become their best and nothing less. And if I can do anything to help, gratefully I will. I can honestly say if it had not been for the tutoring program I would not be the person I am today. And actually, I'm doing pretty well!"

" After leaving Cabrini Connections, I went on to Illinois State University and graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor's in Psychology. In June 2007, I graduated with my Master's in Clinical Psychology, specialization in Counseling. In September 2007, I got a job working with homeless adolescents as a Clinical Therapist at the Counseling Center of Lakeview. I have been at this job for two years and enjoying the flexibility of the work I do as well as the team I am apart of and the exposure that I receive. I am now the mother of a beautiful 10 month old daughter, Ashera.

I am still in contact with my mentor, Ilene Fine, who pushes me to the limit. I am thankful to have had Ilene in my life when I wasn't sure what to do with myself. I believe she came into my life when I was in 7th grade, so 16 years later, (time flies) we still talk pretty regular and meet for lunch on occasion.
